I'm Harini (Ryn) Vel - an illustrator and designer with a diverse skill set that includes Concept Art, Editorial Illustration, and UX Design. While I have extensive experience in UX/UI design for indie games, I'm excited to expand my creative horizons into UX and Graphic Design for both digital and print media. Lead Art Developer, Game Designer, and Project Manager. "Mages' Return" is a video game demo for an original IP. I designed the story, character concepts/designs, as well as the 2D and 3D assets that were used in the project. I collaborated with Sound and Music designer and was in charge of communications and integrating our workflows.
The story of Mages' Return is one that I had been exploring for several years prior to the development of the game demo. Alongside the assets needed for the game itself, I also created a number of concept art pieces to help flesh out the overall aesthetic and tone of the work.
Lead Art Director and Story Writer. "Those Who Dig" is an original IP that consists mainly of narrative and aesthetic exploration. The overall aesthetic is Wild West inspired fantasy.
My goal with the art was to create a gritty, handmade feel that captures the tone of the narrative
UI Artist. "Dirty Work" is an 2D dungeon crawler action game in which you play as "Grise" a young woman working to clean homes, defeat sludge monsters, and find out the plans of a group known as "Rejuviance". The game is currently in development but a playable demo is available.
I was brought onto the Dirty Work team as a UI designer. My job is to design and enhance the User Interface of the game in order to enhance readability, utility, and aesthetics. Assets worked on include: player health and ammo bar animations, narrative portraits, and game menus. Additionally I am working with the team on the visuals for new features that are in development.
